       Philippines is a country rich in culture and tradition. Every year, numerous festivals are celebrated as part of a tradition. These celebrations are town holidays praising crossroads in history that highlights a province's rich culture and tradition.  Ilocos Sur, a province rich in heritage and unique culture, celebrates a  festival named “ Kannawidan Festival" or “ tawid" whih means heritage that is celebrated every year at the end of January to commemorate the anniversary of Ilocos Sur as a province.        Kannawidan is considered as the most awaited celebration in the province of Ilocos Sur. This festival is an opportunity to ensure the conversion, preservation, and promotion of Iloco cultural, artistic, historical, and intellectual heritage while intilling pride and dignity to Ilocanos. Celebrating Amidst Crisis

  Philippines is considered to be one of the countries with numerous festivals of various types namely religious, national, or seasonal. Before the colonization of Spaniards, Filipinos practiced animism which is consist of rituals intended to please benevolent spirits. During the colonization of Spaniards, Christianity was introduced to Filipinos which makes Philippines the only predominantly Christian country in Asia. A number of festivals celebrated in the Philippines are of religious origin honoring the city or province's patron saint. In Vigan City, a festival is held every 25th of January to celebrate Saint Paul the Apostle, the city's patron saint. The festival usually lasts for several days including the anniversary of cityhood of Vigan city which is on 27th of January.     Biguenos all over the world Biguenos from other parts of the country come together to celebrate the festival. This event can be compared to the returning  of family members  reunite with their family.
